Obsidian Setup

Installation and Setup

Section titled “Initial Setup”- Download and install Obsidian from the official website
- Create a new vault when first opening Obsidian
- Name the vault “Coursera game”
- Choose a location on your computer to save all vault content
- Consider adding “Obsidian” to the folder name for better recognition (e.g., “Obsidian Coursera game”)
- Click “Create” to finish setup
Key Obsidian Features

- Reduces risk of lost work
- No manual save required
Graph View

- Add tags throughout documents to show relationships
- Click circles in graph view to navigate to specific documents
- Example: Tag documents with “elves” to see all related notes
Canvas Mode

- Similar to how blueprints work in game development
- Form text boxes around visual graphs
- Drag and drop functionality for organizing content
Working with Content

Section titled “Markdown Language Support”Obsidian uses Markdown for text-based formatting:
- Simple text formatting for lists
- Checkbox creation
- Font styling options
- Organizational commands
Media Integration

- Drag and drop from Windows folders
- Attach lines and change border colors for organization
- Scalable content without quality loss
- Create folders (images, videos) to keep content organized

- Quick search functionality for formatting problems
Project Setup

- Create a new canvas graph
- Label it “coursera game”
- This canvas will serve as the main planning space for game mode scoping
